Feds set aside $2.5M for local rail project

On Friday, U.S. Sens. Rick Santorum (R-PA) and Arlen Specter (R-PA) announced the Appropriations Committee's approval of a $2.5-million contribution to the CorridorOne project that would link rail line from Lancaster, Mount Joy and Elizabethtown to stations in the Harrisburg metropolitan area. Specter said CorridorOne and the other projects listed in the bill are "necessary advancements to the state's infrastructure and an important force for economic growth in our local communities." Also the Modern Transit Partnership project has already been promised more than $63 million and Lancaster County has contributed at least $75,000 to the project.
