In Quinnipiac University telephone poll conducted June 13, with sampling error of +/- 3 percentage points, found that Bob Casey's lead 52% to 34% over U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) since October. Thirty-eight percent has approved Santorum's job performance while 45% said they disapproved, and 16% refused to comment. Quinnipiac poll assistant director Clay F. Richards said, "Sen. Santorum appears to be his own worst enemy in his battle for re-election." Santorum spokeswoman Virginia Davis said that polls are unreliable at this stage of the campaign. Casey campaign spokesman Larry Smar agreed that it is too early to read too much into the polls.
